Twelve Trials to Amuse Bored Gods
What a very fascinating read! I enjoy tales that are spin-offs of Greek or Roman mythology, and this a particularly enjoyable one. The author has set up a good premise that will see this series through twelve novellas: The Greek gods are bored and decide to choose heroes to face twelve trials, and the victor’s team will win immortality. Each of the twelve gods will chose a champion, but only four will be chosen to compete in the trials. One of these is Lyssa, daughter of Hercules, and she very much wants to win against her father, whom she sees as a brute who murdered her mother and brother. She certainly does not want him to be immortal.I thought the author set the scene very well, showing Lyssa's life as a smuggler before Athena comes to her ship to choose her as her hero to put forth for the trials. The goddess believes that Lyssa is the only one who could beat Hercules. Lyssa has made quite a life for herself, skirting the edges of the law as a captain of a smuggler ship. The author also did a good job showing how Lyssa is physically strong with her quarter-god ability to feel rage and channel it. She is a strong and believable heroine who is uncomfortable being thrust into the limelight after so many years in the shadows after she chose to flee from her father. The author also wrote good descriptions of the above-Olympus world; I could imagine it quite easily. I look forward to reading more about these trials.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Not everyone plays by the rules, especially not the gods creating them.
I just finished reading The Skies of Olympus 1- 6, and I will admit, I was so captivated in the story, I didn't really pause to see where one book ended and another began.Skies of Olympus: Books One, Two & ThreeThe story started off with so much going on that I was swiftly overwhelmed and had to stop, go back, and reread the entire first chapter to make sure I knew what was happening. Characters, creatures, and story line are so vivid, that you need to take your time in the beginning.Take everything you have learned about the Greek gods, and then shake up some of your knowledge of the heroes and demi-gods. Captain Lyssa is a wild young woman, commanding a small but fierce crew of smugglers. Her bold actions and family ties draw her into a race for immortality, 12 trials from the gods, to see what humans, giants, and heroes are made of. Not everyone plays by the rules, especially not the gods creating them.I received an ARC of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

Such a Fun Series!
I'm always excited for a mythology series, and this one was even better than I'd hoped! I received an advance copy from the author, which has no affect on my review. That said, I couldn't wait to read this one, and 'oh!' how I loved it! I can't wait for more of this series, and if you are a Greek/mythology fan/reader, you won't want to miss it either!I loved that not only the main character(s) had complex personalities, but that all of the characters were interesting and well written. The plot and story were also well though out, and I loved how the story flows!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

New look at Greek mythology!!!
Whats not to love about this series?! Great twist on Greek mythology! The characters are so well written and each with specific personalities. It will be hard not to think of these Greek legends as they are written in this series. The story its self is so well written and fast paced that you have to keep reading so you can see what is next. The Trials are based on Herculean legend and are seamlessly worked into an amazing adventure.I received an ARC of this book from the author. This is an honest review.

EXCELLENT!
What an interesting series! I have always loved learning about Gods and Goddesses but reading this series has a great twist. Reading about a series of trials to possibly become one of the immortals just because those on Olympus are bored??!! Wow! Very cool how Hercules and his daughter(who are not on good terms) having to compete and go through the trials is AWESOME!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When myths walk the earth
Life is safer then, they say. Things are less complex, they say. Well not according to The Immortality Trials. Life is not simple with all kinds of beings, and it is definitely not safer. But a whole lot more interestingI received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
