Novelty images; instructions only in Chinese, explained below. Good at what is does, but of limited real use.
This is a pretty nifty little camera; it's even smaller than it looks and fits in the palm of your hand. The main problem is that the instructions are inexcusably provided in Chinese leaving you clueless as to how to operate it, as it is not exactly intuitive. I figured it out so here a brief summary:There is a black tab underneath. That is where you connect the USB charger and insert the micro SD card. From the top down the button functions are as follows. The bottom button is the power on/off. You have to press and hold this one a few seconds to get it going. The one above that is to establish a wifi connection with your smart phone or tablet. The large button that is second from the top is the start stop button, and the top button toggles between photo and video modes. The buttons are lit, and the start/stop button will oscillate when in use. There is also an indicator light for video or photo mode. These are difficult to see in bright light, but there is a tiny beep each time a function is selected. There is also a free app that connects the camera to your smart phone or tablet, enabling you to see what the camera is recording (which you otherwise can't see) and to control the camera remotely. The network connection is easy to establish, but you have to find and join a network named after the camera and use the password 12345678 to get on; not your regular wifi network. But then it is extremely awkward to try and operate the camera while holding a smart phone so that feature is probably most useful when the camera is in a stationary position or on a tripod. The connection can be funky and you may have to keep re-establishing it. There are also various modes that can be switched such as panorama, planet, fisheye, 360, etc. but you only discover and switch these through the app on the smartphone. The images are spherical, so it is as though you are looking into a crystal ball. Thus the device is fairly well thought out and simple to operate once you figure it out, but it cries for English instructions. Even the app is in Chinese. What you get with this are videos or 8mp pictures, but unless you have something in mind they are of limited use; how often do you need a 360 degree picture or fisheye view? But if you think creatively you can come up with some weirdness in an alternative reality. Still as a novelty to play around with it fits the bill if you think the price is worth it.

Detu camera seems to be a good product for its price
Detu camera seems to be a good product for its price. Its not 100% 360 degree cam. we get that black circle at the bottom. Its more of a Fish-eye camera. The resolution is nothing too good or too bad. Anyone who wants to understand 360 degree photo and video can use this product. The screw place makes it difficult to use it as a 360 degree cam... luckily I've another stand that can swivel enough to position this camera into 360 degree facing up position. Otherwise its a good economically priced product..Update: With the 3rd or 4th firmware update, the device seems to have mSD card issues. It wont booth with the SD card. Without the SD card it wont record. The only workaround is to perform factory reset and again play with SD card. This is acceptable once but not 3-4 times. Returning it..

Keep scrolling
Didn't work, after I finally found the instructions in English on line, that was vague at best. This is what skimping gets you.

Not quite ready in the app deparrment.
Small camera with very basic fisheye images. The app is not good unless you have other software to use on raw photos. It needs work to be usable, but it is not expensive.

For the price, I give it a 5, ...
For the price, I give it a 5, but for the quality of 360 degree, I give it 3.5. You can only record 180 degrees. For true 360, you need two cameras.

Very good hardware, some software problems
Great camera! The DETU software doesn't encode for YouTube, so you have to find your own software or download another camera manufacture's encoding software, and it seems to have an obnoxious noise cancelling ambience. For the price the resolution is plenty sufficient, and a 32GB SD card (which I bought for ~$11) is good enough to start with. Make sure you have an Android or Apple device, the newer the better; don't plan to use this with a Windows phone or expect to capture anything without the companion device. Here's a video I shot with this camera: [...] I think I'll figure out how to maintain more of the quality in uploads over time, and really, I bought this as a starter 360 camera, and it does NOT disappoint!
