These shelves are VERY well made, I was impressed, they exceeded my expectations. I thought they were going to be light, thin, and flimsy, but they are far from it, these things will definitely out live a newborn baby. Well worth the money. I also really like the fact that this company actually thought about the installation in their design. The mounting holes on the sides are 16" apart so you can actually screw BOTH sides directly into the wall studs rather than using those cheap plastic anchors that never hold up. As silly as that sounds, there's hardly any shelves out there that has the spacing right for mounting into wall studs. The shelves do come with those wall anchors so you can mount them where ever you want on your wall, but I've always had better luck mounting things in wall studs. The option is up to you.As far as "how much will it hold??" Again, that really depends on how you mount it. If you mount it into the wall studs, I'd say you could probably put 30-40lbs on it easily. Keep in mind it's only a 17"W x 6"D shelf so I don't know what you think will fit on it that would weigh that much...I guess gold bars might be a cause for some concern. But if you just screw the shelf aimlessly into the drywall using the wall anchors, I honestly don't trust them and I wouldn't put much more than 10lbs on it otherwise it might rip the wall anchors through the drywall and everything will fall on the floor. Not the fault of the manufacturer, it's just every shelf I've mounted using the plastic wall anchors hasn't been very stable or reliable, hence why I bought these bad boys.Bottom line, these shelves are SOLID and well built with a nice finish, well worth the money, you won't be disappointed. And if mounted properly, they will last a lifetime. I plan on purchasing plenty more of these to replace other floating shelves around the house. Just wish they had a 4 pack of these in black like they do with the white ones.

I bought one set of these shelves to try out in our renovated downstairs rec room. One half of the rec room is "for kids" and the other half is where our couch, tv, etc., are. The "kid" size has one full bare wall that I wanted to turn into a sort of library/picture wall. (Our son reads A LOT.) Once we got (and hung) the first pair, I loved them and decided to get more. So we now have about six sets hung in a diagonal pattern across the one wall (twelve shelves, total) for kids' books. Then we got a couple more sets to hang "stacked" on another wall to create a library of our (non-kid) books. They really do look gorgeous and were super easy to hang. (I especially appreciate that the wall anchors they included are METAL. So many other shelves we've ordered include plastic wall anchors, and we always run into trouble with them snapping or bending. The shelves seem a little on the pricier side, but honestly, they're totally worth it for the sturdiness and the metal wall anchors!)

For what you get, the price is very high, however the quality is very good. The mounting kit is nice and includes a leveling cube, 8 screws and anchors. The holes in the shelves have a center hole for the mounting screw to theoretically fit through so the shelf can hung, unfortunately the hole is too small to work. It's a easy install and a clean minimalist look. If it were half the price, it would be a bargain and I would buy a bunch more because of how versatile it is.
