Everyone should have one.
I purchased this antenna for my UV-5R as well as for a few other radios and this is an excellent long distance antenna. For the record I am talking about the 15.6" model since the reviews for the variety of lengths get mixed together and I DO plan to review the shorter models as well as retractable model which I find slightly less sensitive but still good. Anyways I am able to pick up 2-meter band repeaters from extreme distances. Regularly 18-25miles and I've even gotten a transmission from a repeater some 64 miles away, although 50miles is the max range where I can understand the repeater properly, at least indoors (which is where all my testing took place). Keep in mind I am at an elevation of 400feet and the repeater that was 64miles away was 1200feet+, remember HAT (Height above terrain) is king, more important than watts and antenna gain. At my elevation of 400feet 18-25 miles both ways is clear when talking with a repeater that is 18-25 miles away that has a HAT of about 1100feet. Equal terrain heights without obstructions I find 10-12 miles to be do-able but then again I haven't tested the antenna too much but I do have 2 years worth of experience with the 771R which I think is slightly inferior. I got this antenna mainly for GMRS and MURS use where it does very well, I will have to update later on with more experience but it helps tremendously when I play airsoft as I often act as a radio operator to pass information on and in rough terrain this antenna works great, I have it hooked to my radio via a 2 foot extension so that the antenna is on my back, loss is almost non-existent.

The antenna I received was a counterfeit. Both the logo printed on the antenna and the bag the antenna came in show this. There is no triangle shape inside the 'A' in Nagoya and the bag is square cut on the sealed end as opposed to rounded as on a genuine product. I returned to Amazon and let them know in the notes.

Extended Range antenna for BaoFeng HandHeld Radios
Arrived in excellent condition and well packaged in a right-sized box. Use these on my Baofeng UHF/VHF portable radios for extended range. Ther only item of interest is that they don't screw down as far as the stock antenna on the radio, so to resolve you can add a small rubber O-ring over the connector to give the antenna some extra stability against any lateral pressure from swinging or bumping the antenna. This helps prevent loosening of the antenna connector at the antenna base. Better to be safe than sorry about a broken antenna connector.

FRAUD
Absolutely no difference between the signal this antenna picks up and my stock rubber duck baofeng antenna. Plus I just found out that this one's the fraud antenna being sold for just two bucks less than the real thing... I've submitted a return request and will be shipping the antenna back tomorrow.

Great big antenna for your BaoFeng.
Works great with my Baofengs. Picks up signal well. Easy to install. Flexible - you can (lightly) secure it down with a strap to keep it from waving around if you are out and about with it.

That may explain the poor performance of only 4 City blocks
Items received are not the same as pictured. Checked on Nagoya website [...] and it was evident I received counterfeit antennas. That may explain the poor performance of only 4 City blocks. I read where the counterfeits have sometimes been found to have internal shorts and commonly high SWR. Needless to say that can ruin a radio real fast.I checked mine for shorts. No shorts found, but the performance was a joke. These were only fulfilled by Amazon, but come on amazon, get a grip on who you partnership with.

This antenna is great. Big step up from the rubber duck
This antenna is great. Big step up from the rubber duck. I get a much better range than antenna my HT BaoFeng came with. I use this antenna in my home all the time and have even had great success using it mobile inside my car. Other Amateurs were stunned that my BaoFeng (8 watts) was using this antenna inside of my car with minimal interference. I am sure an exterior antenna would be even more effective but it works...

Good value, performance, a little too long
Over the stock Baofeng antenna, I began to pick up police dispatch from twice the distance. It's 15" length, however, tickles my arm pits if I try to put it in the car cup holder and you look like a weirdo walking around the park with it. But, that's to be expected - better signal, longer length. A good upgrade option for those who want a little more.
