Metamucil? Fogetaboutit! Stop Looking - This is the good stuff!
Picked some of this up in a drug store in Europe while traveling fall of 2023. WOW - it works much better than Metamucil! 1 packet in the morning and 1 at dinner and my "backup logs" are non-existent. Flavor is great and you do not get any texture while drinking it. I wish I would have found this years ago.

A more gentle alternative to Metamucil?
I'm a recovering colorectal cancer patient, now happily cancer free for 14 months. My first piece of advice is that if your doctoar even just suggests a possibility of a colonoscopy, schedule it ASAP because Colorectal cancer is rapidly overtaking Lung and Breat Cancer as the leaading form of cancer, and you don't want anything to do with it but get it dealt with ASAP. I was ste 4.2 when diagnosed and ended up with a pretty heavy course of treatment including radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, a illeostomy for 6 months and a permanent urostomy. Other than being transported unresponsive to the hospital 3 times in the first year of treatment, it was all relatively painless until the reversal of the illeostomy which is where fibrogel came in.Returning to normal bowel function is easy for some, and hard for others because not everybody has the same cancer, surgery, and recovery. I was someplace near the max. My surgeon started me out with a prescription product that combined a slowing action (narcotic) with fiber. The first thing I tried was to separate the two functions into two meds because I would get better control. Based on reading other patient reports the fiber part of my therapy was performed with Fibogel and I found it to be better than the combined med, even just as fiber due to its improved flavor and action. OTOH Fibogel does not seem to be widely marketed in the US and obtaining it from the UK is a little more costly and involves waiting, while the alternative Metamucil is just sitting on your pharmacist's OTC drug shelf in the US. However, early on in the process I was a lot more pleased with Fibogel than Metamucil because Fibogel seemed to be easier on the tender healing bowel tissues. I experimented with dosage, but cutting the doses of Metamucil didn't help as much as just using Fibogel, 1 packet, 2-3 times a day. Later on as I healed up more my body became more tolerant of Metamucil.

Returned without opening it
The description didn't include all the ingredients. Returned because one of them was an artificial sweetener that some consider to be dangerous.

Buy Citrucel instead.
Usually I buy Citrucel, which I find to be effective, good-tasting, and with a pleasant texture. I'm in Singapore at the moment and unable to find Citrucel locally so I tried Fybogel. My advice: Don't buy this product. After a week, I can't really speak about efficacy, but the other qualities are out-and-out poor. Color is weird; texture is sandy. Taste is mediocre. The packaging increases the price substantially. There's nothing to recommend it. Just find Citrucel instead.
