Each October, my wife and I set up a small Halloween/haunted house display. It seemed our DVD, video, and audio playback equipment never lasted long and it was often difficult or impossible to loop segments properly for constant play. After combining short segments and burning them to as a large/long file to DVD (without a repeat loop), we were resigned to the fact that we were in the market for replacements. I attended haunted trade shows and kept on the lookout for the newest innovations (yes, there is a niche market for haunts). I even toured behind-the-scenes at some of the larger productions. I discovered the large theatrics use a multitude of hard drives, although affordable for us, these had storage and playback capabilities which were really unnecessary for our small show. I came across the MDN HD mini media box. It seemed to fit our needs. Inside the nicely-packaged box came the MDN HD mini media unit, a remote control, two AAA batteries, an HDMI cable, an RCA-jack component cable, a USB cable with mini plug on the other end (for power), a velvet carry bag, and a universal adapter (100-240V and 50/60 Hz) with Type A (US, Canada, Japan, Mexico), Type F (Europe, Russia), and Type G (UK, Ireland, Singapore) plugs. The media box itself is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and has a USB connection for an external hard drive, a SD card slot, and HDMI slot, and an AV slot for mini plug of the RCA connector. Since I have legacy equipment, I was primarily interested in the RCA connections. I copied a short mp4 video to an SD card (not included) and placed it in the slot. I connected the media device to my TV using the RCA jacks and powered-up. I immediately noticed that the display appeared to be scrambled and not not clear. I turned off the unit and restarted with the same results. I pressed the setup button on the remote and peered closely at the television screen. Even though the picture was unsteady, I could make out the words "PAL" and "NTSC." Oops. The unit was shipped with a default to PAL format. After a few presses on the remote, I had it running in NTSC. Picture was very sharp and within seconds I navigated to the "File" section which contained my video and had it playing in a constant loop. Success!I am extremely pleased with this unit; it fits my purposes perfectly. It plays a multitude of video and audio formats and at around $35 US, it is very affordable.

This Item works as advertised.Pros: works as a great interface for memory cards, flash drive and even HDD with power outlets changeable resolustion from 720p or 1080 has a sleep timer ability so you can watch movies and sleep instead of waking up 6hrs later and manually turning it off.Cons: Doesn't have buttons on the mdn box itself so don't lose the remote or use it to much to the point where the remote buttons are wore down Plays some of the file types but not all described for movies. When listening to music you can't navigate around through the file directory while listening to current song audio port to tv or headphones doesn't work properlyOverall, the product is great and effective with limited features. Perhaps a newer version with many improvements would be great such as- Video resolution from 720p,1080p, and resolutions up to (4K) supported with all file types.- Music interface that allows you to play music while browsing through all menu's even while playing or pausing while watching a movie or viewingphotos.- Possible newer product with buttons in mdn box or option to sync a universal remote with the mdn box and multiple usb ports.

It works well. And, is able to play everything I tried except some ISOs. The RGB port stopped working on the 1s day. However, the HDMI port continues to work fine. It works fine with my 1TB & 2TB drives, but it will not work with my 5TB drive.

Got this to play 1024x720 MP4 YouTube music vids through my tv and it works perfectly for that. That's all I use it for.I use HDMI to connect to my tv and a USB stick to hold the MP4 files. It plays all files consecutively (files are sorted alphabetically) rather than having to select and play each vid one at time like my ROKU.It's very tiny and easy to use. The HDMI cable is included. It also has 3 plug in adaptors for the power supply so you can pick the one for your country. The remote is easy to use once you get used to it.One little problem at first was I used a 16GB USB 3.0 with 10Gigs of files and directories and it would not load into the player. I then tried a 4GB USB2.0 stick with 3 Gigs of just MP4 files and it worked perfectly. I don't know what the problem was with the first stick, too many files? USB3? Anyway it plays nicely now.

It works grate, plays most any video file, and the remote is easy to use.the hand book can only be seen under a magnifying glass. But that's OK you don't need it.the major problem is that when it's in the OFF mode the USB port still has power.so if you have say a USB hard drive connected the hard drive keeps on running even when media player is off.the only way to kill power to the usb port is to unplug the media player.

I like the player, however, it can not access 2TB hard drive. This is unfortunate since I have stored most of my collection on this drive. In order to view any of my movies, I have to copy them to a smaller 6GB storage device. I'll have to wait until a device is developed to support 2 or more TBs.After using the player for 3 months, the sound has degraded to the point that you can barely hear movies that once played just fine. There are no adjustments or settings that help. Too bad. The only positive is that the picture quality is great.

Unlike a previous media player I received, which had a defective power connection and kept disconnecting, as well as a remote which was hard to read because of the gray writing, this one has worked like a charm. There is an occasional file that won't play ( possibly corrupted?), but they are few and far between. Plays .avi, .mp4 and mkv well and mp3s ( the only formats I've tried so far) and, if you happen to have separate subtitles for a video you can just load them on the flash drive or SD card, use the subtitle button and voila! you have subtitles. Remote is a decent size and easy to read and you can have an SD card and flash drive plugged in at the same time and switch between them. Had it for a few months so far.

Chinesisches Produkt, daher ist das Menu in Deutsch nicht gerade von einem Deutschlehrer verfasst.Jedoch läuft dieses Gerät einwandfrei und für den preis einfach perfekt für alle , deren TVs keine .mkv datein abspielen oder die eine PS3 haben und sich ärgern warum dieses Format nicht wiedergegeben wird.

Er erfüllt voll und ganz seinen Zweck. Nur eins stört mich ein wenig und zwar bei Filmen die über einen DTS Tonspur verfügen. Dieser wird nicht sauber wiedergegeben, das heisst in meinem Fall, dass der Ton laut und leiser wird, was natürlich ärgerlich ist, weil man dann halt immer den Ton laut und leiser machen muss, aber an sonsten genau das, was ich gesucht habe. Spielt bei mir bis jetzt alles an Formaten ab wie z.B. mkv etc. Bedienung ist auch einfach. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
