Second time buying because it's quite perfect.
I bought one of these a few years ago - same stand basically, but very very slightly different older model.I used that stand literally all day everyday for almost 2+ years. Only very recently have I seen any signs of wear, and that has been exclusively at the mini usb jack for the fan.The newer current model connects with standard size USB on both ends instead of the mini, so now it's clearly less flimsy and less likely to wear out in the same way as the older version.Nothing else ever broke on the stand, but because I've been so happy with it for so long, I ordered a new one just to assure I would always have at least one working device.* Why be so extra about a computer stand?I use a TON of Adobe CS on my macbook with giant files all day long everyday, so my computer really needs the extra help to remain cool, especially in summer.Only takes a few moments for the stand fan to cool my computer enough that my mac shuts off it's internal fan in response. This stand actually works as it should : both as a stand and as a fan.It is also super helpful that it has a flat full base plate rather than just 2 horizontal legs (like a lot of other models) because then it can sit on* your lap (*opposed to straddling). It can work on a table or lap really well because of the full base design, but even better the full bottom balances it better while also providing a place to hold some external hard drives that are plugged into your laptop. If I need to get up, or shift position I can lift the whole mess of it (computer, stand, and attached external drives) all at once avoiding any extra jiggling of the external drives or the jacks they're plugged into. So effectively this stand helps to reduce wear and tear of my macbook jacks and external hard drives while also keeping it cool.I've been perfectly happy with the rest of the features too.Heavy enough it remains balanced and sturdy, but light enough to be no bother. The silicone rubber pads on the top surface of the stand really do keep the laptop from sliding around on the stand if you need to move it about. The adjustability of the stand angles makes it easy to find a comfortable set up super specific to what you are doing or where you or the computer is. It's not hard to manipulate but the joints are stiff enough to hold the positions you put it in correctly.I don't typically get this into writing such a detailed positive review for anything, but to be honest here - I only ordered a second because the first was so awesome for so long. The new one arrived a few weeks ago, and it's been just as perfect as the older (if not even better). When I can afford having 3rd on deck, I will likely order this same stand again.

This laptop stand is perfect
I got this adjustable laptop stand to replace one I got at the beginning of the pandemic (made of plastic) that recently broke. I'm not sure there's any way to break this by accident! I needed a laptop stand to raise my laptop off my desk and up to eye level, plus keep it cool. Here are all the pros: It's sturdy - there's literally no wobbling or movement at all. It's compact - it doesn't take up much space on my desk, but my 13" laptop fits on it perfectly. The fan is quiet, but keeps everything cool.If you need a laptop riser with a fan, GET THIS ONE.

Works great once you fix it
I had read so many positive reviews on this stand and that’s why I had chosen this particular cooling stand. I have an elaborate gaming laptop and I’m always playing all of the new AAA titles. So, buying a stand like this made perfect sense. However, I did remember reading one review that had claimed, the stand they received, the fan was actually installed backwards. Meaning, instead of the fan blowing air out of the top (beneath the laptop) it was actually blowing air out of the bottom of the stand and sucking air in through the top. When I received this product, before setting it up, I plugged it in and took a very thin piece of paper. I figured an easy test would be to see if the paper is sucked up from the bottom of the unit and it should blow the paper up from the top. Well, sure enough, I got the opposite results. It was drawing air in from the top and the fan was blowing air out of the bottom. I was able to easily locate 4 screws on the bottom and removed them but the fan was clearly still attached somehow. On the top side, which the laptop sits on, there are four rubber round pads. Which are there so your laptop isn’t sitting directly against the aluminum. I was able to remove the four rubber pads and below the pads were 4 more screws. After removing those screws (8 in total) I was easily able to flip the fan over and have it working correctly. I replaced all 8 screws and the rubber pads still had plenty of adhesive to be reapplied, exactly as they were. Now, the fan blows in the correct direction and the stand does a fantastic job at keeping my gaming laptop cool. I would highly recommend for everyone to try this paper test and make sure your fan is installed properly. If it’s not, the stand is doing absolutely nothing to help with keeping the temperature of your laptop under control. Sure, I could’ve just returned it because this is a huge flaw with the manufacturer but maybe the other commenter and myself just received units with an isolated issue. But I can’t urge you enough to make sure yours is functioning properly and if the manufacturer happens to see this review, I would hope that this issue has been remedied. Now that it’s working properly, I really do like this stand because I wanted my cooling stand to be aluminum with height and tilt adjustment and this product certainly ticks all of those boxes. Also, if you do discover that your unit has the same issue, the only tool needed is a Phillips head screwdriver and you can have the issue resolved in about 10 mins. After all is said and done, I am still pleased with this product and I have no problem recommending it to others. It is sturdy and the fact that it’s fabricated with aluminum, makes me feel like it’s built to last.

Nice metalic base that is very sturdy
I have a rather heavy AlienWare 17 R4 and this base holds it quite nicely. I will note though that you may wish to have something heavy on the base or a prop in the rear that will help prop it up if you have a rear heavy laptop. It is just there is not quite enough weight in the base to offset a very heavy laptop that is heavy towards the rear. Otherwise it is very sturdy and holds up well. It is just a weight distribution issue due to the weight displacement of a larger rear heavy laptop.

Great addition for 3 screens users - Fan is very quiet and helps to keep the laptop cooler.
I currently work a hybrid office and remote situation on a weekly basis. My work laptop is in use more than 8 hours a day. I had issues with the laptop getting hot by the end of the day. My IT friends suggested that I get a laptop riser with a fan. I purchased this one, and it works very well for my needs. The fan is very quiet and unnoticeable. Overall, fan keeps the laptop cooler at the end of the day.I found that the adjustable raiser is great for matching the laptop screen with the line of sight of the two monitors at work and at home when makes it a great help to my work environment. It can be stiff to fold and unfold, but overall is still a great addition to my laptop.
