Catharine will mesmerize you.
How many times do we hear that a certain book is important and timely? Many! But this novel about an Iroquois and French woman is especially so! It's setting is grounded in the history of the colonial days and the beginnings of our country. The real life historical figures became real, and this incredible indigenous woman, Catharine, was uniquely herself, but also represented women of all ages. I loved her simplicity and relationship with nature, but also her courageous heroism in a time of much conflict between colonial powers and Native Americans. This book should be required reading for all students of history, but unlike much required school reading, this one will be thrilling and a pleasure.

A Story That Is as Intriguing as It Is Inspirational
Cynthia G. Neale has turned historical records into an imaginative, compelling story based on the life of Catharine Montour, a woman of French and Iroquois descent whose family has close ties with various Indian tribes and colonial leaders, as well as missionaries and fur traders. The story begins with the Long Peace of Pennsylvania in the mid-1700s when Catharine was a young girl, expected to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps as an interpreter for the British colonies. Throughout her account, the author beautifully weaves together the natural and spiritual worlds that make up Native American lore, in contrast to the nature of the colonists to cheat and steal from the indigenous people who did not believe that land could be owned. Cynthia G. Neale has captured the essence of Catharine, Queen of the Tumbling Waters, as she was known and revered during her lifetime, a woman whose story was fairly obscured amid a changing world that robbed her ancestors of their heritage. This book will open your eyes, and perhaps your heart, to the history you never learned in school. It is as intriguing as it is inspirational.

A Visit Into History
What a wonderful and historic trip into upstate New York and PA via the very challenging life and of Catharine Montour, member of the Six Nations Iroquois. The grim facts of our shared history and the valiant life of this American Indian woman is an inspiration. Thanks Cynthia Neale for bringing this forward!

The research for this book is unbelievable~
I have always admired Cynthia for her beautiful stories and this one is no exception. She spent a great deal of time researching the relationships among the Native Americans and the white people. And all the special ceremonial rites and how they were celebrated. It is a wonderful story of the past history of the Finger Lakes area and beyond. I have shared it with others and they are enjoying it also.Keep writing Cynthia - can't wait for your next adventure~~

Great book!
The story was interesting and obviously well researched. The details of living in that time period was very well done. Reading about this woman has peaked my interest in wanting to visit that area of New York State. I hope we’ll see more novels like this one from the writer!

Catharine Queen of the Tumbling Waters
While reading Catherine you feel a presence and realize the influence Iroquois women had when trying to settle peacefully with those who wish to take over their lands. Cynthia Neale takes us back to an important time in history. I highly recommend Catherine: Queen of the Tumbling Waters.
