The lip or shelf that holds your tablet or book appears to have been snapped off during manufacturing or packaged up. I say this as there are no signs of damage to either of the two outer boxes or the shrink film wrapping. The shrink wrap also takes on the 'broken' contour, ie it has not been shrink wrapped, then broken during transit, which would have seen the wrapping sag or slack off.Conclusion: Looking at the product design and construction, the lip is an inherent weak spot and would always be liable to some kind of damage. The manufacturers QC is lacks, as something like this is massively obvious and should have been spotted.

Lovely looking knife holder, holds a lot of knives and takes any shape knife. Looks stylish. I love the fact you have a ledge to put recipe book or iPad , so you can easily follow a recipe.

Gosh love this bought some Japanese knives sharp as but came with no storage this block holds all 9 knives easily and firmly and the iPad holder is great when I am FaceTimeing or just have a recipe up

Like it. Holds knives in any direction (almost), nice to have phone /tablet /book holder included. Looks good and appears to be sturdy.

I bought this through prime which is meant postage was free. I returned because it’s base was too big.. I did not receive a full refund for the purchase price despite being given a return postage label.

Great, just what I was looking for, nice size for my kitchen worktop, sturdy enough, holds 6 knives and kitchen scissors easily, I find the lipped frontage very useful for holding menus, paperwork etc.
