LOUD!
These little things are awesome! They are loud and really sound a unmistakable alarm. Just be careful, as they are easy to set off. I personally hang them from a bag, but am careful that they are tucked in a bit as if the key chain comes apart you will get plenty of attention!

A bit of peace of mind
Yeah, it's pretty loud and yeah the light is bright when you look directly at it. It would turn all heads in a populated location for sure. It's pretty easy to trigger the alarm, just pull the two parts apart. I'd be worried that my kid would mess with it and scare herself. But I guess that could lead into an important discussion about how women in particular need to take extra precaution in the world. They're pretty basic little alarms, and you get two of them. If you'd feel more confident with having an alarm with you or your child, this is an okay option to consider.

Amazing!
Bought for my daughter and I. It's super loud and the light flashes, makes us feel more secure. Glad I bought it!

I like it, well and thoughtfully made, does what it says
Makes a very loud, continuous, uncomfortable noise. Some kind of slightly warbling pitch (rather than a fixed note), which draws attention even more, and does put you in mind of an emergency/alarm.It's a bit like a whistle I guess: not the exact same sound, but similar effect. And it flashes at the same time: in a pretty wide arc, quite attention grabbing.Note though this works less well if the device is smothered like inside a pocket. You can still hear it, but it'd probably get mostly ignored. There's a speaker on the back, and basically you don't want it covered for best effect.(You can muffle it quite a bit with just a finger. It's loud enough you feel it pulsing in your hand.Maybe it might be better if it had a less localized speaker, like along an edge...)So dangling from somewhere is good, inside a bag less so.It's not tiny though. Small yes.Like two lipsticks but a bit longer, bigger than a car fob, much shorter than a selfie stick. It's a noticible chunk on a key ring. But conveniently, it's dual purpose: it's a flashlight too, and a reasonably good one, comparable to a phone's flashlight. That helps to justify the size to carry.Having a conveniently accessible flashlight is useful for all sorts of situations. There will be times where you might feel uncomfortable brandishing your phone to light your way.If this thing is attached to your car keys, using the flashlight function to find your car at night is going to be natural and convenient.Maybe the flashlight even serves as an excuse to be holding the alarm device in your hand if you feel unsafe. To activate the alarm, you either pull on the chain, or double click the button. The flashlight has it's own small button on the side.(The side button is pretty small and embedded, to limit accidental activations I guess.)It's an interesting balance: you don't want the alarm activated by mistake too much, but it does have to be easy and quick to trigger. You can easily lift the device by the chain and it won't activate. You have to pull with just a little bit more force.Similarly, the large button on top is going to get accidental single presses all the time. It's easy and quick to double click to activate the alarm, yet hopefully it should not happen much by accident.(And the button is concave which helps a bit to limit accidental presses too.)We'll have to see how often this triggers accidentally, but this strikes me as a reasonable balance.Stopping the noise: pushing the chain attachment catch back in turns it off immediately, if that's how you activated it.If you had used the button, then hold for about 3 seconds.Again it's an interesting balance: there will be accidents so mustn't be too hard to turn off.But an unfamiliar nervous attacker would need several seconds to figure it out. There's a flashing/strobing light function too: basically the same as when the alarm triggers but minus the noise.Honestly I'm not sure the use case for this, and it makes for an extra click needed to turn off the regular flashlight, which is a bit annoying, and it's not discreet. It's very cool that it's rechargeable! It's the only way the flashlight function makes sense. It means you can easily top it off, whereas with batteries you'd be reluctant to change them when not empty, so it could easily be dead when you need it.They say the battery lasts a full year on standby!!? (2 years in the instruction sheet!)That sounds impressive! It means you won't get annoyed and fed up of having to charge it.I can't confirm that obviously (or you won't get to read this review). It's supposed to flash at you when the battery is getting low, and I noticed it beeping at me when turning off the flashlight with low power remaining. So it does make every effort to let you know when it's time to charge it.Time will tell whether battery life (and longevity) holds up.Selling them as a pack of 3 is an interesting idea. For the manufacturer it lowers the overhead (that's otherwise more significant on lower price items). For the buyer: you wouldn't have bought 3, but they're actually useful to leave around in different places, or gift family members and friends.I could see this being potentially useful in security situations other than an attack.I might bring this on a hike / woods adventure, as it combines functionalities of a flashlight and whistle (it's not waterproof though). If, for whatever health reasons or an injury, you're unable to shout out, having this on hand to attract attention could be useful. There might be some work safety applications (construction, industrial).I wasn't sure if this was going to be a silly gadget, but I'm pretty convinced it's a good emergency item.I'm impressed. It's loud, the triggering mechanism is well done, the 2 year standby rechargeable battery is great. The attachment mechanism is convenient. The flashlight function makes this more widely useful and helps to justify carrying it.

Disappointing as safety alarm device
I often walk alone and thought this would meet my needs to feel safe in alerting attention should any situation arise, however the alert noise level is a bit too low despite "high decibel" description.I do appreciate the pin staying attached to the alarm, and the light is really just ok-nothing super alarming from any distance away to attract attention (would suggest a red colour). This is basically a fancy screamer (which are available at a much lower price point!). I truly don't understand why it is so difficult to get these so called "protection" devices to varied LOUD sound levels to seriously alert and signal a need for help. The price for this fairly ineffective item might be better used to buy an air horn or pepper spray.

Very loud and easy to use
The Personal Safety Alarm for Women is an absolute must-have for anyone concerned about personal safety. This compact yet powerful device packs a punch with its 130dB siren whistle, providing a strong deterrent against potential threats. The rechargeable feature is incredibly convenient and environmentally friendly, eliminating the need for disposable batteries. It's reassuring to know that the alarm will always be ready to go whenever I need it, without worrying about battery replacements. The SOS LED feature adds an extra layer of functionality, providing visibility in low-light situations and signaling for help in emergencies. This feature is particularly valuable for nighttime walks or in dimly lit areas. The keychain design makes it easy to carry the alarm wherever I go, whether attached to my keys, purse, or backpack. Its lightweight and discreet nature ensure that I can have peace of mind without feeling burdened by bulky safety devices.Fortunately, I haven't had to use the alarm in a real emergency, but knowing that it's there gives me a sense of security and empowerment. It's comforting to have a reliable tool for self-defense that is both effective and easy to use.Overall, I highly recommend the Personal Safety Alarm for Women to anyone looking for a simple yet powerful solution for personal safety. It's a small investment that could make a big difference in a dangerous situation.

Nice lightweight safety alarms with flashlight
I really like these Personal Alarms. You get three individually packaged alarms so they are perfect for sharing/gift giving. I kept one for myself and gave the other two to my nieces. I wish I had something like this when I was younger. Apparently a charge can last for up to a year on standby. I haven't had it long enough to test that. There are two ways to activate the alarm, you can either push the SOS button twice or pull the chain. When the alarm didn't go off after the first push, I found I had a tendency to push and hold the SOS button which didn't work. You have to push it twice quickly. In an emergency, you want something that is intuitive. That would be my only criticism. Of course that may be only an issue for me as it seems I have too many devices that you have to push and hold the button to activate. Pulling the chain worked every time and was more intuitive. The alarm also has a flashlight and a flashing light that is always handy to have. It comes with a ring that you can use to easily attach it (and detach it) to your purse, key ring, pants, you name it. It's also small and lightweight so it is not a problem to carry.
