Healthy and delicious
I've been using this mix for a while, and am very pleased with it. The Muffins come out moist and delicious, while being more nutritious than other baked goods.

Tasty Bran Muffins
Very tasty and easy to make muffins. I added some cinnamon for extra flavor, but it did not need it. It took an extra 10 minutes to bake from what the instructions said and yielded 12 muffins. I would buy this again.

The three virtues
I thought for a long time what can be said about a muffin mix. Do people want to know how they taste, or if they’re good for you or are they budget friendly? Yes those things would be at the top of most lists and I’m sure there would be several more, but if those are the top three let’s see how these compare/TASTEThis is the one that I rarely talk about because I don’t care what anybody else thinks about how something tastes and I certainly don’t think they care what my taste buds say. There is only one way you can ever know if you will like something and that is to buy it and try it and if you like it keep buying it again. If not, don’t. Not only don’t I think it’s important to know what somebody else thinks, it’s pretty rare to find many food products that aren’t mixed or flavored with something else, like for example I don’t know anybody who would eat muffins dry, they are almost always served with butter or jams or honey or something else. For the record though, I thought these were really good but not five star quality, in other words the best you can get. They tend to be a bit bland by themselves. But to prove my point, I didn’t make them plain, I added fresh sliced cherries and whole blueberries, both of which added a lot of sweetness. But they were still on the bland side.HEALTHYThat’s a tough one, does healthy mean you’re not going to keel over after eating one, or does it mean you will be chosen to win a beauty pageant after eating one? There are foods that are good for you and those that aren’t bad for you. This certainly has some impressive ingredients and nothing my doctor tells me to stay away from. But if there are any health benefits they are going to be found after ten or twenty years, not an hour after opening them.BUDGET FRIENDLYThis is unfortunately where we have to rein in the talk about taste and being good for you and face the stark reality that you use one entire package to make twelve muffins and that costs you twelve bucks. That simply isn’t realistic for most families and those who ignore this when raving about them aren’t helping anyone. That budget busting price has to be considered along with everything else and count toward how many stars a product can earn. And when it is so far in the extreme that the shark tank people say nice try and point out the way to the exit door it is only fair to let it drag everything else down accordingly to result in an average rating. I have a hard time believing this stuff costs more than about thirty cents a bag to make and with everything else factored in it shouldn’t cost us more than about four dollars. I’m going to have to pass on this one.

Bran Muffins As They Are Meant to Be
Bran muffins should taste healthy with a whole grain flavor that has barest hint of sweetness, and this flax-and-wheat bran mix from Manitoba Milling makes muffins just like that. I was leery at first at the amount of water used per bag -- 2 whole cups -- but not about the required 2 eggs and 1/4 cup oil, which are pretty standard. Because of all that water, the batter is surprisingly thin, even after letting it rest for the recommended 5 minutes before baking. The muffins emerge, though, with a springy texture and good bran flavor. Each bag makes 14-16 muffins, even if you fill the tins to the top.The official serving size is 1/16 of the mix, or one muffin out of 16 total. Each muffin contains a good amount of fiber (3g) and protein (4 g), with supposedly no added sugar even though brown sugar is listed in the ingredients. Because I can't really taste that sweetness, I suspect that the brown sugar is a neglible amount while the buttermilk adds the full 9 g of sugar. Each serving is approximately 130 calories, a low amount for a muffin. All the nutritional goodness is the world isn't worth much if the muffins don't taste good -- and these do. I feel as though I'm giving my body a good start to the day when I eat of these alongside a piece of fruit.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Great Tasting Bran Muffins
Product: Manitoba Milling Flax Bran Muffin MixI was pleasantly surprised at how good these bran muffins tasted. I didn’t add any additional ingredients to the mix and I found they had plenty of flavor as packaged. They were a hit with everyone in the house. They were also very filling and one muffin was more than enough. The bag states the mix will make between 12-16 muffins. I got 16 muffins with the muffin cups full. It yielded good-sized muffins. They are very easy to make and I only needed ingredients I usually have on hand in the house (water, eggs and oil). The batter looked somewhat thin for muffin batter, but they came out perfect. They were moist, especially for a bran muffin which can sometimes be on the dry side.I was very happy with this bran muffin mix.

Very Good...
I know a lot of people don't like bran muffins because they connotate it with health problems (you get the drift). But if it's a good product, you can add things like blueberries or other fruits, and it is very good indeed. This particular product worked well with blueberries, and I didn't have any negative reactions from it, and that's the best thing you can say about bran. It cooks up well and has a good taste to it. I enjoyed the muffins, and so did my husband. For the price, you're getting a good product.

Good bran muffins
I have had a lot of bran muffins in my life, and these muffins from Manitoba Milling taste the way I expect them too. They are not too sweet, but bran muffins are not supposed to be very sweet, so that is good. This package is good for one batch of 16 muffins. You just need to add 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of oil, and 2 eggs. I like to fix these for my children since they are healthier than the types of muffins that you typically find at the grocery store, which are loaded with sugar and other unhealthy ingredients.
