Great filter
I love this! Totally fresh tasting water. This is an update after 8 months: My water is well water. It took 7 or 8 months before my water started tasting metallic (I go through about 4 gallons a day). I am sure that if you live in a city and use a municipal water system, this would last a lot longer. This is not a complaint. I was surprised it did so well. Based on this, my recommendation for well-water users, that the filter should probably be changed every 6 months. By 8 months the filter was entirely brown, from top to bottom. So I think changing it earlier would be good. And, if you live in the city, I think this would be an exceptionally good purchase as it really would last quite long.

Water runs much faster than with old cartridge
This cartridge is a replacement for a countertop filter I bought years ago. I browsed a lot to find one that would fit in it because I could not find an original. This one fits just a bit loose but it works perfectly. It sputters some when you initially run the water through the filter. Then, it flows normally, and much more water than with my older cartridge. The water comes out a tad cloudy too in the beginning but the taste is so much better. I use this filter for me and my pets' gravity waterers. This product came on time and brand-new.

This was about 1-2 millimeters short
I tried this filter as a replacement in my Watts water filtration system, and turns out, this filter is not compatible: when I installed it, the water flow seemed to be unencumbered at all, same taste as from the tap. When I took the filter out and put it side by side with the old one, I saw the length difference - it is just enough for the water to flow around the filter, not through it.

Short lived filter if expecting a long life .5 micron filter
Works well for a short amount of time. It is advertised as a 20,000 filter. I'm sure it filters for 20,000 gallons but not to .5 microns. It works well for about a month with a 1 micron pre-filter. I am the only user for this filter and am certain of my claims. I have used much longer life filters. My judgement was being done by personal taste, not test equipment.
