Complete Book of Chess: 1 (Usborne Chess Books) Paperback – 1 April 2014

My 11 year old nephew loves this book, he is reading it all the time and showing us what he has learnt.

Bought this as a birthday present to go with my 11 year old Son's first proper chess board and he says it's great and it has learned him some new tactics. Unfortunately he's not a big reader but he couldn't put this down for days after getting it. Very pleased.

Well illustrated

An inexpensive but highly useful introduction to chess; ideal for anyone just starting out or anyone wishing to rid their game of a few rusty edges. Jonathan Rowson's contribution means the content is perfectly pitched.

Great book for beginners or those who want to brush up their game. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Well set out and user friendly. Particularly like solving the various problems.

I have been playing chess for almost 40 years, but never read a chess book before. The book is really interesting and educational, and is an excellent starting point for anyone wanted to gain some further knowledge. I am teaching my 10 year old son to play chess and his game has improved so much since reading the book!

Nice book and lots of information, however my 75 year old Mum who is still very much on the ball and active found the content overwhelming. She is a beginner who has always wanted to play chess and having read other reviews, I thought this book would be ideal for her. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. I honestly think a children's beginners chess would have been more suitable.

I got this for an old person who wanted to learn chess. It explains everything about the game and with the illustrations is easy to understand.It looks like a book for children but even experienced players will learn a lot from it. I would recommend the book to anyone and at the price it is a bargain. There are lots of links in the book to further information and lessons on the internet.
